Canada had just over 1.7 million people working in health occupations in 2025, a 4.9% increase from 2024, according to Statistics Canada’s October 19 report. Employers still had 67,900 vacant health positions. The vacancy rate was 4.5%, compared with 2.7% across all occupations, showing that workforce growth had not eliminated recruitment gaps.
